"Taking a Stand" was a graphic design course project where I created a poster advertising a documentary on the '60s civil rights movement in Milwaukee. Based on the project parameters of only using type and a grayscale color scheme, my goal was to capture the zeitgeist of this time. The typeface "Margot" is similar to typefaces used on protest posters during this time. In my design, the letter "A" holds up the word stand to convey a message of unity. This is because several groups of people came together and supported one another in the fight for civil rights.
